Shape
We can create cushions in just about any shape or size to perfectly suit your needs. If you don’t see the shape you need here, contact us via email, phone, or feel free to visit our factory showroom. We can do fully custom orders directly through these channels. Below are some of the most common shapes we offer:
- Rectangle: This classic shape remains one of our most popular. About 95% of the cushions we make are rectangular, offering a traditional yet versatile look.
- Trapezoid: Many customers are surprised to discover their seating calls for a trapezoid shape. Typically, the front width is shorter than the back, but we’ve seen a variety of configurations. We’ll customize the shape to meet your specific needs—just let us know if you need any help. Visit our Custom Cushion Measuring Guide for trapezoid cushion tips.
- Round Corners: Another popular choice! While our standard rounded corners satisfy most customers, if you need a specific radius for your corners, we can make adjustments. Just share your dimensions after ordering, and we’ll produce your cushion to your exact specifications.
Check out our FAQ page for more information or if you have any other questions.
Dimensions
If you’re replacing existing cushions, be sure to measure them from seam to seam across the edge, not including any welting.
Width: This is measured from one side of the cushion to the other, usually across the back where the zipper is (or would be). Measure from seam to seam, to the nearest 1/4″. Typical bench cushion widths range from about 18″ up to 100″ or more for larger benches. For wide benches, consider breaking the cushion into multiple sections for easier handling and cleaning. If you’re unsure, refer to our Custom Cushion Measuring Guide for more tips.
Depth: Measure from the front of the cushion to the back, preferably along the side. As always, measure from seam to seam, to the nearest 1/4″. Typical depths for bench cushions range from about 18″ to 24″, with up to 36″ for deeper seating.
Thickness: Measure from the top of the cushion to the bottom, preferably at the corner. Again, measure from seam to seam to the nearest 1/4″. Common thicknesses for bench cushions range from 3″ to 8″, but for specialized uses, we’ve made cushions thicker than 20″. If you’re uncertain about which thickness is best for your seating, feel free to contact us for guidance.
Trapezoid Cushions: For trapezoid cushions, follow these additional steps:
- Depth: Measure in the center of the cushion, from front to back.
- Front Width: Measure from seam to seam across the front.
- Back Width: Measure from seam to seam across the back.
For more details on trapezoid cushion measurements, see our Custom Cushion Measuring Guide or our FAQ page.
Configuration
Filling & Cover: This option is for a full cushion, including the fabric cover, filling, optional welting, and your choice from our wide selection of fabrics. Perfect for anyone needing a completely new cushion with all components.
Slipcover Only: If you only need a fabric cover to refresh your cushions, choose this option. It includes the cover, optional welting, and your choice of fabrics, without the filling material.
Filling Only: This option is ideal if you need replacement foam for your existing cushion covers. No fabric is included—just the high-quality foam filling to restore the support and comfort of your cushions.
If you’re not sure which configuration suits your needs best, don’t hesitate to contact us for assistance!
Filling
All of our fillings meet the California CA-117 requirements for flammability standards. Choose the right firmness to meet your comfort needs:
- Soft: Best for back cushions, bolster pillows, or seat cushions that are over 5″ thick.
- Medium: A great balance between comfort and support, perfect for seat cushions 3-5″ thick, or thinner foam back cushions.
- Firm: Preferred by those seeking maximum support, especially on thinner cushions for both seats and backs.
We also offer cushions made with a combination of firmness (e.g., a soft top with a firm bottom), allowing you to take your customization to the next level.
Note: The thicker the foam, the firmer it will feel, even with softer firmness options. Here are the types of foam we offer:

Style
Your cushion style can significantly influence the look of your furniture. Here are the most popular cushion styles we offer:
- Box: This style features seams around all the edges, providing a clean, modern look. No welting or cording is used along the seams.
- Bullnose: For a sleeker, more streamlined appearance, the fabric wraps continuously around the cushion without any visible seams on the top, front, or bottom.
- Double Welt: This traditional style includes seams and welting/cording around the edges, giving a more sculptured and classic look to the cushion.
- Contrast Welt: Similar to the Double Welt style, but with the welting/cording in a contrasting fabric, allowing you to create a unique, dynamic look with different fabric combinations.
