Customize Ottoman Cushion

The Ottoman custom cushion is a single cushion used to put your feet up and relax. Most often it’s rectangular, but often there are variations for zipper placement, attachments, curved sides, etc., which make a particular Ottoman cushion unique. We have lots of experience with these as well, and are happy to create your unique solution.

Once you purchase, we will be happy to receive sample cushions to use as a guide for production, and we also provide free template kits to make it easier if your cushion isn’t quite as regular as the standard shapes.

Description

We can make cushions in just about ANY shape, size, we can produce almost anything you can dream up. If you want something not offered here please see our Unique shape cushion page and design yours. However, below are our most common shapes:

Rectangle: 95% of our cushions are produced with a rectangular shape. An oldie but a goodie!
Trapezoid: A lot of customers are surprised that their seating needs call for a trapezoid shape, and we are happy to make this customized perfectly for their needs. Typically the front width is shorter than the back, but we’ve seen all kinds of orientations, and are happy to make whatever you need. Please call us if you need any assistance!
Round Corners: This is also a popular choice, and our customers are usually quite happy with our standard round, but once you purchase let us know if you need a specific radius for your cushions and we will produce to your specification.

Description

If you are measuring existing cushions for a replacement set, please measure them from seam to seam across the edge of the cushion, not including any welting that may be in place.

Width: This measure is taken from one side of the cushion to the other, usually across the back where the zipper is / would be. Measure from seam to seam, to the nearest 1/4″. Typical measurements are from ~18″ at the narrowest, up to 60″ or more for very large Ottoman cushions. Unless specified we will place the zipper for the cushion along the width, if you would like to have a hidden zipper, or have it placed elsewhere please let us know in the order instructions.

Depth: This measure is taken from the front of the cushion to the back, preferably across the side of the cushion. Measure from seam to seam, to the nearest 1/4″. For Ottomans, typical measurements are from ~18″ to 60″ or more.

Thickness: This measure is taken from the top to the bottom of the cushion, preferably at the corner. Measure from seam to seam, to the nearest 1/4″. For Ottomans, typical thickness measurements are from 3″ to 8″, but we’ve made some that are over 20″ thick.

Trapezoid only

Depth: For trapezoid, depth of the cushion should be measured in the center of the width, from front to back, rather than along the side as in other shapes.

Width is replaced by:

Front Width: This measure is taken from one side of the cushion to the other, across the front of the cushion. Measure from seam to seam, to the nearest 1/4″.

Back Width: This measure is taken from one side of the other, across the back of the cushion. Measure from seam to seam, to the nearest 1/4″.

Filling & Cover: This option is for a full cushion, including cover, filling, welting if desired, and a full selection of fabric options.

Slipcover only: For this option we provide only the fabric cover for the cushion, including welting and full selection of fabrics, without any filling material.

Filling only: This is the option to select if you are looking for replacement foam for an existing cushion. NO fabric will be involved in the production of a filling-only cushion!

Types:

Standard Indoor/Outdoor filling is a closed cell foam, wrapped with a Dacron padding to provide a full, high quality look not typically present with lower end cushions. This foam is long-lasting, antimicrobial, mold-resistant, and will perform well in either indoor or outdoor applications. It is well suited to humid and rainy environments, or poolside use.
Premium Indoor/Outdoor filling is similar to the standard version but is even longer lasting, it will withstand the extreme use associated with high-traffic commercial installations.
Dryfast is an open cell foam that will perform similarly to the Standard Indoor/Outdoor, but because of the open cellular structure will dry from exposure to water much faster. This foam is also antimicrobial, mold-resistant, and comes with the full dacron wrap for high-quality look and feel.
Polyfiber is a soft flexible filling material, a synthetic alternative to feathers, which enables a soft, comfortable feeling on back cushions and decorative pillows. This material is also antimicrobial, and mold-resistant, and is a good choice for both indoor applications and outdoor applications where it can be exposed to the elements.

All of our fillings meet the California CA-117 requirements for flammability standards.

Firmness:

Soft firmness is typically used for back cushions, bolster pillows, or seat cushions which are thicker than 5″ or more.
Medium firmness is a good balance between soft comfort and firm support, and is typically used for seating between 3-5″, or thinner back cushions made with foam.
Firm foam is typically preferred by customers who want to maximize support, and is most requested on the thinner cushions, both seats and backs.

It is possible to have cushions made with a combination of firmness, e.g. a soft top with a firm bottom, to take your customization to the next level.

Keep in mind that the thicker the foam, the firmer it will feel, even for softer firmnesses.

Standard Indoor/Outdoor

This closed-cell foam, wrapped with Dacron padding, provides a fuller, high-quality look not often seen in lower-end cushions. It is long-lasting, antimicrobial, mold-resistant, and ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, especially in humid or rainy environments or poolside settings.

Premium Indoor/Outdoor

Our premium option is designed for extreme durability and can handle the heavy use often found in commercial spaces. It shares many of the same qualities as the Standard version but offers even longer-lasting performance.

Dryfast

An open-cell foam that dries much faster than traditional foam after water exposure. It is also antimicrobial, mold-resistant, and comes with a full Dacron wrap for a high-quality look and feel. Ideal for outdoor applications.

Polyfiber

This soft, flexible filling is a synthetic alternative to feathers, offering a plush, comfortable feeling for back cushions and decorative pillows. It's antimicrobial, mold-resistant, and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

We will place the ties in the most likely needed positioning, unless you specify elsewhere.

Description

Our standard ties are 12″ long, and come in pairs so that they can be tied around the seating frames. If you want alternative ties, we also offer 18″ standard ties, and loop velcro ties as well, for an additional charge. Please contact us if you want to have any of these alternatives.

None: Your cushion will come without any tie attachments, for the cleanest look. This is a very common choice for Day Beds as the cushion itself can be quite heavy and tends to stay in place without ties.

2 ties: We will attach the ties to the back of the cushion, extending from the corners.

4 ties: We will attach the ties to the back and front of the cushion, extending from the corners.
