Comments
When visitors comment on our site, we collect the data displayed in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent, to aid in spam detection.
If you use a Gravatar email, an anonymized string (hash) of your email might be sent to Gravatar to check for its service usage. Read Gravatar’s privacy policy here. Once your comment is approved, your Gravatar profile picture becomes publicly visible alongside your comment.
Media
If you’re uploading images, avoid those with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) as website visitors can extract this data.
Cookies
Leaving a comment? You can choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies, so you don’t re-enter them with future comments. These cookies remain for a year.
Visiting our login page sets a temporary cookie to verify your browser’s cookie acceptance. It doesn’t store personal data and is deleted once you close your browser.
Logging in sets cookies to remember your login info and display preferences. Login cookies last two days; display preference cookies last a year. If you choose “Remember Me”, your login persists for two weeks. Logging out deletes the login cookies.
Editing or publishing an article sets an additional cookie in your browser, indicating the edited article’s post ID. It expires after a day.
Embedded Content
Our articles might have embedded content (like videos, images, articles). Such content from other websites behaves as if you’re directly visiting those sites. These sites might collect data, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, especially if you’re logged in.
